Blooms of vivid pinkish-orange mint color engage the design elements on both sides of this otherwise warmly toned, olive and gray-brown example. Sharply struck from an early state of the dies, trivial off-centering affects only the denticulation at right obverse and reverse. A few faint spots on the reverse blend nicely with the toning at most viewing angles. This type is a popular British Conder token - Middlesex, D&H-307a - that has been adopted by U.S. collectors owing to the Benjamin Franklin connection.
