Lot Description

Noyes Die State A-B/B. Bathed in warm rose-brown patina, this hard and frosty example also reveals faint traces of powder blue as the surfaces rotate under strong lighting. Well struck for the early to middle die state, the individual border denticles are generally distinct and the major design elements are bold. Scattered carbon flecks are faint apart from small spots at the first letter S and the second letter T in STATES, marks few in number and insignificant save for a tiny nick in the obverse field between Liberty's nose and star 4. A very handsome piece, tied for CC#5 for the 1827 Newcomb-7 dies in the Noyes census with an EAC grade of MS60.
