- 1778 Machin's Mills Halfpenny. Vlack 11-78A, W-7820. Rarity-3. GEORGIVS III. VF-20. 95.68 grains. Deep golden-tan surfaces reveal uniform roughness throughout. A relatively recent raw copper-red scratch on the obverse from the rim at 3 o'clock to the effigy's profile comes to light under low magnification, reverse essentially mark-free with just the planchet roughness present, tiny rim clip at 12 o'clock does not manifest itself on the obverse. Finer to the eye than our description lets on. PCGS# 466. Provenance: Paper envelope with attribution notes included.
