THE SOMMELIER COLLECTION An exceptional quality borderline GEM Proof example of this challenging Seated Liberty issue. Housed in a generation 1.2 holder, a classic rattler slab. Wonderful watery mirrored fields bounce the light and are highly reflective. The colorful toning really pops boldly when you rotate the essentially GEM caliber surfaces in a light. The blues and golds really pop! We note a few minor lines under intense scrutiny, but these are invisible to the naked eye. The eye appeal is exceptional for the grade, and what a delight it is to see a classic coin like this still in the old PCGS holder. PCGS 36, NGC 29, CAC 6. Only 600 Proofs were struck. The last example sold in December 2018--the market dynamics have changed since then. We still think that with a Collectors Universe value of $1,750 these are great buys--they don't often look this high end or have this coin's great color. We expect very strong bidding for sure!
