- 1901 Morgan Silver Dollar. MS-60 (PCGS).
Lively cartwheel luster on brilliant centers with subtly toned highlights at the rims. A notable rarity in Mint State grades despite the mintage for the date of more than 6.9 million pieces. As well worn examples are very plentiful it is likely that most were placed into circulation at the time, and few were saved in bags. Those specimens that didn't circulate may have been melted en masse during the days of the 1918 Pittman Act, as no bag quantities of the date came forth in the early 1960s Treasury release.
PCGS# 7272. NGC ID: 256J.
