- Circulation-strikes for 1894 are much more scarce at the "gem" level, but this is a gorgeous proof that stands upon its own merits. The surface assuredly retains 80% or more of its original copper-red color with only very mild mellowing of the overall tonality. Neither side displays much by way of cameo contrast, but hands-down, the details picked up a strong, full four-diamond strike from the dies.
