This is the second PCGS MS-66 for the 1891-O Morgan dollar that has come across your cataloger's desk for this sale - an extraordinary situation given that the current online version of the <em>PCGS Population Report</em> lists just six (!) grading events for this conditionally challenged issue at this level. Representing a remarkable second bidding opportunity for advanced collectors specializing in this perennially popular series, the fleeting nature of this situation should not be overlooked. Whereas the example offered above is richly toned, this piece is more lightly patinated. The obverse shows delicate champagne-pink peripheral highlights, while the reverse is more warmly toned in a similar color with a few streaks of silvery near-brilliance also noted. Boldly struck overall, and significantly so in an example of this often poorly produced issue, even the central high points show good definition. Lustrous, satiny, and with a silky smooth texture, even the most discerning Morgan dollar enthusiasts will be impressed with this premium 1891-O.
