Losbeschreibung: Heck DS3, Breen Die State II. Similar to the Sheldon-26 in the Widmer Family Collection, this Sheldon-32 clearly illustrates angular misalignment of the dies. Otherwise sharply struck, the right obverse and reverse peripheries on both sides are soft, the former with little border denticulation present in that area, the latter with somewhat blurry detail to the letters in AMERICA and the adjacent denticulation. There is a minor reverse rim bruise at 3:30, but no other post-production marks of note (original planchet texture is seen in the softly struck areas). Hard and frosty, the surfaces were recolored ages ago and display not unattractive deep, even, copper-brown. Although minimally circulated, an EAC grade of EF40 or EF45 is in order due to this coin not being strictly original. Visually appealing, nonetheless, and a popular variety due to Dr. Maris' colorful nickname of Venus Marina (Goddess of the Sea).
