"1855/4"-FD Octagonal $1. BG-511. Rarity-4+. Liberty Head. MS-63 (PCGS). OGH. Reeded edge. Gold-plated over lesser gold core. Deep olive-gold with some prooflike reflectivity around the frosty motifs. A Frontier, Deviercy & Co. issue, the maker's mark, FD, at bottom of reverse. Die State II: "Obverse rusted and repolished; bridge of nose, cheek below eye broken through excessive polishing, crack across second star." A pleasing specimen that ranks just below "finest certified" status in the eyes of PCGS. PCGS Population: 9; 2 finer (both MS-64). PCGS# 10488. PCGS Population: 9; 2 finer (both MS-64).
