This was a Proof-only date, This variety, B-3 is a restrike, made for collectors later on, likely in the 1850s or 1860s. This is a CHOICE example of this rarity, perhaps only 20 or so are known to survive today. Sharply struck on both sides, the details are razor sharp from an exacting blow from the dies. The surfaces are deeply toned in a deeper brown and teal-blue overtones add to the outstanding eye appeal. There is some light contact on the high wire rims. PCGS 5, NGC 2. The last one sold for $6,600 in June 2020 and the current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $10,500. A very rare coin worthy of any advanced cabinet of early copper. Cert.
