Breen Die State III. Frosty surfaces derive much luster from the advanced, flowlined state of the dies. Handsomely toned in steely olive-copper and medium brown, the faintest traces of faded mint color persist around some of the design elements to reward the patient viewer. Boldly struck and otherwise approaching Select Mint State quality, a hint of rub to the high points is mentioned for accuracy. A few light carbon spots on the reverse are also noted, one at the right base of the letter C in CENT being particularly useful for provenance purposes. Although not included in the Bland census, this coin has been evaluated by Noyes, who grades it EAC MS60, net AU55, and ranks it tied for CC#2.
