Lot Description

Nicholas Jackson Collection. Overton-141 (R.3), latest die state. The Peterson diagnostic for the LDS includes a bent, intermittent die line that begins at the end of the stem above "C" in the denomination and reaches the rim. Also present are the lines of the first and third stripes extending to the second crossbar, but repunching of the second "T" in STATES has been lapped off. PCGS designates this as a virtual mint-state example (how much closer can AU-58+ CAC get?) but an irregular jagged line in the field up and right of the eagle's head is either a clean, old scratch or an intriguing strike-through.
