Lot Description

Needle sharp strike with squared rims and superb details. Light blue-gray toning permits the reflectivity of richly mirrored surfaces to shine through. The reverse dies were likely rusted and pitted as evidenced by a scattering of striations and raised dots, as made. The final year of issue for this type with a proof only mintage of 600. PCGS 162, NGC 134. Listed in the PCGS price guide at $2,750. Most recent auction price of $2,040 was recorded in March 2022. The present which is an old “rattler” holder is in our opinion conservatively graded and worthy of strong bidding substantially in excess of the listed value for the assigned grade. Cert.
