Lot Description

Uncommonly full in strike for a type that is often encountered with considerable softness in one or more areas. Luster is impaired to explain the MS-62 grade from PCGS, but some of the frosty texture remains, and light toning in steely-gold iridescence further enhances the appearance. The brevity of this half dollar design combined with the rarity and consequent cost of the 1836 Reeded Edge places strong type collector pressure on the 1837, especially at the Mint State level.
