- 1766 Pitt Halfpenny Token. Betts-519, W-8350. Copper. AU-58 (PCGS).
Deep golden-tan with chestnut highlights. Glossy and hard to the unaided eye, and much the same under low magnification. Some minor carbon flecks are seen, including a few behind Pitt's head, and on the reverse, particularly around AMERICA. The devices are crisp for the grade, and no marks of any merit can be seen on either side. An altogether pleasing example, despite minor blemishes, of this tribute to William Pitt the Elder, who fought in Britain's Parliament for the rights of the colonists in North America.
PCGS# 236.
