1875/75 Shield Nickel. FS-103. Doubled Die Obverse, Repunched Date. MS-65 (NGC). CAC. A smartly impressed, fully defined example further adorned with smooth, brilliant mint luster. Close inspection of the obverse with a loupe reveals a wealth of numismatic intricacies: doubling to the features along the top of the shield and at the junction of the horizontal and vertical shield lines, repunching at the tops of the digits 75 in the date, and a plethora of cracks around the periphery. This rare Gem is tied for CC#1 for this intriguing and highly desirable variety. Provenance: From the Q. David Bowers Collection. NGC Census (FS-103 attribution only): 2; 0 finer.
