- Lot Description
- A very flashy early Proof Seated Dime! This was the second year the mint issued proofs for sale to the general public. Brilliant silver-white in the centers gradually transition to red, blue, and gold toning towards the peripheries, most notably on the obverse. The fields are fully mirrored, as expected for the GEM grade, and contrast nicely with the frosted devices. From a mintage of 800 pieces, a significant number were unsold or released into circulation. The presently offered coin is among the finer of the proofs that survived. PCGS 11, NGC 9. PCGS lists the price guide value as $3,750. Last auction recorded a price of $1,920 in June 2018, recent prior sales ranged from $2,100 to $3,300. A perfectly lovely coin for the collector of Seated coinage or proof type. Cert. Number 34713372 PCGS # 84748
