- Heck DS4. Dressed in ruddy brown and russet patina with tinges of pale olive, both sides exhibit a few dull marks that are most noticeable on the obverse in the date area, reverse at the letter N in CENT and below the first letter A in AMERICA. The obverse is the more boldly defined of the two sides, just a bit soft at upper right, reverse softer overall, yet with the design appreciable in all areas save for at lower right, where the final A in AMERICA is not evident. Hard and tight, a faint spot of old verdigris at the upper reverse border hardly detracts. A readily obtainable variety that is popular for type purposes, the 1794 Sheldon-65 is thought to comprise all or most of the Mint's large cent deliveries from July 9 through August 14, 1794, for an estimate mintage from these dies of 150,000 coins.
