1821 Capped Bust Dime. JR-2. Rarity-6+. Large Date. AG-3 (PCGS). This is one of the rarest die pairings in the Capped Bust dime series, a variety which is seldom offered at all. In fact, this die marriage is missing from many variety collections. Research by experts believe about 15 of the JR-2 die pairing are known in all grades. Examination finds scattered minor handing marks but generally even wear on both sides with a pleasing light silver-gray patina. Identifiable by a minor toning spot on star five of the obverse. The all important identifying diagnostics are clear enough to confirm the attribution despite wear. An important coin that should not be overlooked by serious variety specialists.
