1856-D Liberty Head Half Eagle. Winter 39-FF. VF-30 (PCGS). CAC. This impressively original example offers rare CAC-approved quality in an 1856-D half eagle. Warm honey-apricot color throughout, the surfaces are exceptionally smooth and present as nearly mark free to the unaided eye. Softness in the centers is commensurate with the assigned grade, but the detail is sharper toward the borders, and traces of frosty luster remain and add to the appeal.
