Near Gem 1844 Quarter. Impressive multi-colored patina graces the surfaces of this early example of a No Motto Seated Quarter. Most likely to be encountered in the lower circulated grades, coins in this lofty state of preservation seldom appear. PCGS 5, NGC 4. Only 8 finer. Listed in the PCGS price guide for $3,000 with no recent auction records. The present coin last appeared at auction in October 2009 when it realized $2,760.
