Lot Description

1847-D Liberty Half Eagle. Winter 16-M. AU-50 (PCGS). CAC. Pretty copper-rose iridescence is scattered about on both sides of this coin, where it enhances a base of warmer bright-orange color. Considerable remaining luster includes very modest hints of semi reflectivity in the reverse field that flash into view at more direct angles. Suitably bold in detail for a lightly circulated Dahlonega Mint five, and free of sizeable or otherwise individually distracting abrasions. Among the more readily obtainable Dahlonega Mint half eagles, to be sure, yet still appreciably scarcer than such issues as the 1838-D Classic, 1843-D and 1852-D.
