Lot Description

1906-S Liberty Eagle. MS-64 (NGC). Here is a condition rarity that would be easy to overlook. The mintage from the San Francisco Mint that year was 457,000 Eagles. However, not many survived in high grades. Even Choice coins are rare and seldom offered. To date NGC has awarded this grade to a mere 7 pieces, with just 2 seen a point finer! Blazing mint luster in the fields with a satiny yellow-gold texture typical of this Mint. Excellent surfaces as nicks and cuts are at a minimum, as Liberty's cheek has only minor scuffs from bag handling. A prize rarity for the date collector.
