Lot Description
WOW! Everything about this first year Proof Morgan is stunning and exceptional! From the technical standpoint to the visual quality, this GEM is all there and then some! Experts have contested the number of Proof examples of this variety struck, with the estimate being between 200 and 300. Today, we can tell that the number of survivors is much lower, many were likely unsold at the mint and melted, and others lost to ravages of time. Cameo Proofs of this date are EXTREMELY RARE, and much coveted by today's collectors. Very high end and totally original, a glaze of the clearest gold toning across the centers and deeper at the peripheries attest to this. Extraordinary mirrors are deep, crystal clear, clean, impressively reflective and reveal no imperfections of any kind. Miss Liberty and the details are frosty and razor sharp. The frost is so thick that the contrast is bold, dramatic, and adds to the amazing visual effect. PCGS 7, NGC 5, CAC 3. The last example in this grade that we had the pleasure of selling was back in our February 2015 Regency Auction were one brought $49,938. A different example sold in April 2021 for $36,000. Today the CAC CPG value is listed at $43,200 and the Collectors Universe value is $47,500. Just a single PR66+ CAM is graded finer at PCGS, a coin that has yet to sell in auction, but when/if it does, the six figure price could be surpassed. Good luck. Cert. Number 25159474 PCGS # 87312
