Hints of smoky-gray and gold toning drift over both sides of this gorgeous Superb Gem. Fully struck with some field to device contrast, to see this coin is to admire it for both its technical quality and eye appeal. A scarcer Proof Liberty Head nickel with a limited mintage of 1,938 pieces, the 1897 is particularly elusive in the finest certified grades, as here.<p>
