- Simply put, Mint State Barber half dollars seldom come this well preserved and visually appealing, and irrespective of date or issuing mint. This San Francisco Mint coin exhibits delicate champagne-gold tinting to smooth, brightly lustrous, satin to semi-reflective surfaces. The strike is as close to full as one could realistically expect for a mintmarked example of this design type, and the eye appeal is outstanding.<p>With 1,604,000 examples struck, the final year 1915-S Barber half dollar is readily available in Mint State but remarkably scarce even in Gem MS-65. As a Superb Gem the offered coin is tied for finest certified at PCGS and NGC. It is a phenomenal condition rarity that would do equally well in a top-flight type set or specialized collection of Barber coinage.
