- Absolutely choice for the grade both physically and aesthetically. The soft golden-gray surfaces exhibit modestly lighter high points and are remarkably free of circulation marks despite the coin’s lengthy stay in commerce. Bolender-5 – or Bowers Borckardt-27 – is perhaps the first early dollar variety a numismatist learns to recognize. There is a diagonal raised die line in the field near the highest hair curl that points directly to the innermost point of star 5; you can’t miss it. The present coin easily fills the “gem” designation for the assigned grade – essentially problem-free to the unassisted eye and aesthetically appealing throughout. PCGS #6852
