Lot Description
A near-GEM Draped Bust half cent with a great look and fantastic pedigree. High end and boldly lustrous with a lovely satin gleam. Rich, original golden brown surfaces show accents of olive and steely-brown patina which blend with very subtle hints of faded original mint color. The devices are generally very well struck for an early copper. Close inspection does reveal a few scattered teeny ticks. Overall the eye appeal is very strong. Ex. Lee Hewitt Collection, Bowers & Merena, November 1984, lot 2781; Goodrich Collection, Goldberg's, September 2012, lot 194; Regency Auction XXII, Legend Rare Coin Auctions, July 2017, lot 1; our consignor. PCGS 12, NGC 3, CAC 5. This is the most recent PCGS/CAC coin to sell realizing $5,405 in July 2017, and $6,900 in 2012. The current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $5,750 and the CAC CPG value is listed at $6,880. Just three are graded finer in the designation, this is a great example for type, variety, grade, and will make its place in a fantastic collection. Cert. Number 26488079 PCGS # 1093
