1889 Nickel Three-Cent Piece. Proof-67 Cameo (PCGS). CAC. A brilliant and frosty specimen of this terminal issue with a platinum-white complexion across each side. The fields are icy and nicely reflective, contrasting handsomely with the more satiny design elements throughout. The surfaces remain virtually pristine, free from notions of handling atop even the highest points. 1889 was the last year of production for both the Proof and circulation issue three-cent piece, though the Proof mintage was down about one thousand examples from the year before to 3,436 coins.
