1845-O Liberty Head Quarter Eagle. EF-45 (NGC). Suitably bold in overall detail for a lightly circulated Southern gold coin, this inviting piece also retains ample evidence of a satiny finish from the dies. Bathed in even olive-gold patina, this is an uncommonly well preserved and attractive survivor of the rarest Liberty Head quarter eagle from the New Orleans Mint. Mintage: just 4,000 pieces, survivors of which number no more than 100 or so coins in all grades. PCGS# 7739. NGC ID: 25GY.
