Lot Description
One of the classic rarities of the dime series, the low mintage of 100,000 belies how few are found. To locate a mint state example is something of an accomplishment. This particular coin has slightly flat stars, especially on the left side of the obverse, which is normal for the date. Toned a light silvery-gray, the coin remains bright, with faint evidence of toning probably removed by dipping, similar on the reverse. Identifiable by a minor scrape at the upper right of the N of UNITED. The reverse die was rotated about 20 degrees counter clockwise when this one was struck. An American classic, always in high demand and seldom found in grades even approaching this lovely mint state example. NGC has graded 5 this high with just 2 graded higher. Similar at PCGS, which has only graded 2 as MS-63, and none higher! Thus, if you want one of the top graded examples, back up the truck and snag this one before it gets away. <BR>Estimated Value $8,000 - 10,000.
