Description du lot
1794 Liberty Cap Half Cent. C-1a. Rarity-3. Large Edge Letters. VF-30 (PCGS). A handsome piece with blended deep copper and medium brown patina on both sides, the latter a bit more pronounced on the reverse. Well centered in strike despite scant denticulation in isolated areas, most devices are boldly defined, and all are discernible. Accuracy compels us to mention softness to the letters LI in LIBERTY and most of those in the words UNITED and CENT. Microscopically rough due to scattered handling marks, only a few of which are readily evident to the unaided eye. All in all a pleasing mid grade example of the type, date and variety that will appeal to a wide range of bidders. Manley Die State 2.0. Provenance: From the Dr. James McCallum Collection. Acquired from Bowers and Ruddy Galleries, July 2, 1975. PCGS# 1003. NGC ID: 2223. Click here for certification details from PCGS.
