A very attractive example with blended pinkish and green-gold coloration and scattered traces of tan patina across the obverse. The fields are intensely satiny and frame bold and untroubled devices. With 1.7 million coins struck, the 1923-D is the most readily obtainable mintmarked double eagle from the 1920s and 1930s. Even so, premium quality Gems such as this are scarce from a condition standpoint.
