Lot Description
1821 Capped Bust Quarter. B-3. Rarity-3. MS-61 (PCGS). OGH. Slate-gray and olive patina with vivid underlying golden-apricot iridescence. Both sides are also sharply struck with an impressively smooth, frosty texture for the assigned grade. The Large Size Capped Bust quarter is one of the least appreciated types in the classic U.S. Mint silver series. Nice circulated examples are very scarce, while in Mint State the type as a whole is rare when viewed in the wider context of the numismatic market. This premium BU 1821 represents a significant find for the astute bidder. Provenance: From the Steven Jay Ball Collection. PCGS# 5331. NGC ID: 23RM. Click here for certification details from PCGS.
