- 1796 Draped Bust Dime. JR-4. Rarity-4. VF-35 (PCGS). CAC.
This handsome piece exhibits dove gray patina in the fields, the design elements generally lighter in silver gray. A few isolated peripheral areas are devoid of denticulation, but the strike is well centered and plenty of bold detail remains to confirm the validity of the Choice VF grade from PCGS. Pleasingly smooth in hand and attractively original, this is a lovely mid grade example of the historic first year dime issue from the United States Mint.
Provenance: From the E. Horatio Morgan Collection.
PCGS# 4461. NGC ID: 236B.
