Lot Description
Satiny silver-gray throughout with a lively array of peach iridescence on the obverse and deep golden gray on the reverse. Repunched date numerals, as always seen for the date. The half dime obverse die of 1859 was done by Anthony Paquet, an assistant engraver who saw much work producing patterns among his other mint duties. There are numerous distinctions between Paquet’s work and the obverse of 1858 and earlier, among them are stars with hollow centers, a taller and thinner depiction of Liberty, and a new angle to her shield. This is a one-year-only type coin that belongs in every type collection. PCGS #4371 Pedigree:From the Centennial Collection
