- 1835 Matron Head Cent. N-4. Rarity-4+. Small 8 and Stars. VF-25 (PCGS).
A remarkably nice example of this tough variety with a pedigree to match. Light brown surfaces are glossy and problem-free and offer excellent eye appeal for the grade. Early die state. Owned by many large cent greats going back nearly a century, but appears to just now be making its very first auction appearance.
Provenance: From the John McBride Collection. Earlier ex Henry C. Hines; Dr. William H. Sheldon; Willard C. Blaisdell; R.E. Naftzger, Jr.; Bill Noyes; Tom Reynolds, June 2010.
PCGS# 37081. NGC ID: 225S.
