1788 Massachusetts Cent. Ryder 6-N, W-6240. Rarity-3-. No Period after MASSACHUSETTS. EF-45 (PCGS). 168.0 grains. Very sharp and boasting the luster and light wear of an About Uncirculated coin, PCGS' more conservative grade is undoubtedly in consideration of some fine, diagonal planchet striations that have blended well with the coin's deep mahogany surfaces. Though not a major rarity, the Ryder 6-N die marriage is mostly found in grades Very Fine or less, with only a small handful of pleasing high circulated grade survivors like this to be found, and worth a premium as such.
