- 1787 Fugio Copper. Pointed Rays. Newman 18-H, W-6950. Rarity-5. UNITED STATES, 4 Cinquefoils. EF-40 (PCGS).
Unusually nice for this scarce and conditionally challenging variety. Glossy golden-brown surfaces that show no significant defects and the sharpness of the detail is quite bold for this variety considering the late state of the obverse die and the usual strike with which these come. This piece is finer than the Ford coin and virtually all others that have come to market in recent decades, and is the finest graded at PCGS for the die variety.
Provenance: From the Pierre Fricke Collection. Purchased from John Agre in 2010.
PCGS# 878411.
