Lot Description
1827 Capped Bust Dime. JR-8. Rarity-4. MS-63 (NGC). A tough variety to find in all grades, particularly so in mint state. The present example boasts rich iridescent toning of blue, green, crimson and gold that forms circles near the rims. A few minor scuffs and shallow scratches are present under close scrutiny, but these are easily overlooked in the general presentation. In the most recent John Reich Condition Census, a single MS-63 is reported, perhaps this is the same coin or a new discovery, and the dime book authors mention another gem in their notes. Certainly well up in the Condition Census at this level, and a worthy coin for the specialist to represent the variety.
