Lot Description
1928-S Buffalo Nickel. MS-65+ (PCGS). CAC. A sharply impressed, highly lustrous example with a smooth satin texture to both sides. Lightly toned in iridescent gold, as well, this is an exceptional coin in an S-Mint nickel from the challenging decade of the 1920s. Despite a slightly higher mintage (6,936,000 vs. 6,436,000 pieces), the 1928-S is scarcer than the 1928-D in Mint State, especially with the superior surface preservation offered here. Sure to catch the eye of astute Buffalo nickel collectors. Provenance: From the Silver Springs Collection. Earlier ex D.L. Hansen Collection. PCGS Population: 21; 20 finer (MS-67 finest). PCGS# 3965. NGC ID: 22SD. Click here for certification details from PCGS.
