Lot Description
Very pretty and original olive/khaki gold patination coats both sides of this well struck and lightly circulated Charlotte G$1. The mintage was a small 6,966, the second lowest for any Charlotte gold dollar and is tied for second rarest for the series. For the date, the strike is sharp. The typical example grades VF-XF, and AUs, as offered here are genuinely scarce and rarely encountered in auction. PCGS 12, NGC 12, CAC 1. The only PCGS AU53 (was not CAC) to sell realized $3,220 back in September 2008. More recently a non-CAC approved PCGS AU50 sold for $3,819 in May 2013 and a PCGS/CAC AU55 sold for $4,370 in the 2011 ANA auction. The current CU value is listed at $3,500 and this is NOT the NGC AU53 that sold in the 2016 CSNS auction. For any advanced collector of branch mint gold, this is a great opportunity to acquire a nice, original example. Good luck! PCGS # 7510 Certification Number 82237796 PCGS # 7510
