- Lot Description
- Ringed in soft multicolored peripheral toning, the centers on both sides are brilliant to allow ready appreciation of lively mint frost. The strike is superior in this '75-CC twenty-cent piece, and there are no marks that would seem to preclude a higher Mint State rating.<p>Always in demand among better date type collectors and Carson City enthusiasts, the 1875-CC is the only readily collectible twenty-cent piece from this coinage facility (the 1876-CC is a legendary rarity with only 20 or so coins known). A scarce issue in its own right, the 1875-CC was produced to the extent of just 133,290 pieces. The typical survivor is well worn and grades no finer than VF, indicative of heavy commercial use for this issue on the frontier. The 1875-CC is elusive in Mint State with such coins eagerly sought by CC-Mint enthusiasts as well as mintmarked type collectors.
