Description du lot
An incredible GEM quality Cameo Proof gold dollar. The surfaces are exceptionally brilliant with virtually pristine cleanliness and bold depth of clarity. Even with the aid of a strong glass we are unable to find a flaw worthy of mention in the fields, aside from a lint mark and mint made planchet flake, the surfaces are wonderful. The devices are nice and crisp with a bold frosted texture that contrasts against the captivating reflection of the surrounding fields. Only a single pair of dies, listed as JD-1 in John Dannreuther's magnum opus on Proof U.S. gold coins, was used to strike the entire mintage of 1,079 pieces. Scarce in all grades, particularly so fine, this is a wonderful GEM Proof gold dollar for the type or date collector. PCGS 16, NGC 13, CAC 7. Just a pair are graded PR65+ CAM and the only PCGS PR65+ CAM CAC to sell brought $10,200 in November 2019. The current Collectors Universe value is listed at $13,000. Fewer than a dozen are graded finer at PCGS in the Cameo designation, this is a wonderful GEM for any collector! Cert. Number 34401151 PCGS # 87638
