Description du lot
Handsome 1881 Morgan Dollar in Gem Proof 1881 Morgan Silver Dollar. Proof-65 (PCGS). This cabinet-toned specimen exhibits a base of soft pearl-gray patina to both sides, the obverse with mottled olive-russet overtones and the reverse with warmer colors at the border. Direct lighting calls forth not only vivid multicolored undertones - most notably from the obverse - but also an intensely reflective finish from the fields. Fully struck with even the most intricate design elements crisp. From a mintage of 984 Proofs for the fourth year of Morgan dollar production, and easily among the finer and more aesthetically pleasing survivors available to today's discerning collectors. Provenance: From the Collection of James Allaire Millholland, 1842-1911. To view all items from the Collection of James Allaire Millholland, 1842-1911 click here.
