THE SAN DIEGO COLLECTION Very high end in every way, and one of the FINEST examples of this die marriage, this is a BEAUTIFUL GEM! At the median grade for the Overton- Parsley Condition Census, which is listed at 67,66,65,64,63. The AMBPR listing shows just an NGC MS66 finer having sold last in Stacks' 68th Anniversary Sale (October 2003). This is a wonderful GEM specimen of this date and variety. A bold luster radiates over mostly untoned silver surfaces. We think at one time a long time ago, this coin was carefully dipped and now a blush of golden-orange, purple, and blue toning at the rims add color and depth to the visual allure. Sharply struck up devices include the all important "ear bars" from the die clashing; a diagnostic for the die variety. The surfaces are very clean and free of any distracting marks or lines visible to the naked eye and the quality holds up to close scrutiny with a strong glass. Ex Heritage, December, 2015, lot 3178. PCGS 15, NGC 12. The most non-CAC PCGS MS65 to sell in auction brought $10,200 in June 2020. Prior to that, we sold one for $13,513 in December 2017. The current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $22,500. VERY RARE any finer, there are seven coins graded higher for the DATE at PCGS. This is a wonderful GEM example for a type or date set, and worthy of a strong bid. Good luck. Cert. Number 46263197 PCGS # 39480
