- Lot Description
- 1794 Liberty Cap Half Cent. C-9. Rarity-2. High-Relief Head. VG-8 (PCGS). OGH Rattler.
With marbled steel-brown and golden-copper patina to surfaces that are microscopically rough, but not unusually so for an early date half cent that saw this extensive circulation. The strike is well executed, and all major design elements remain bold at the assigned grade level. A few light circulation marks over and before Liberty's portrait are not readily evident in hand, and mentioned here solely for accuracy. The old style PCGS insert uses the improper coin #1004, which is for the 1794 half cent in the RB category.
Provenance: From the Roberta and William C. Willner Collection.
PCGS# 1003. NGC ID: 2223.
