1869 Silver Three-Cent Piece. Proof-65 Cameo (PCGS). Hailing from a mintage of approximately 600 proofs for the year, this 1869 trime sports bold obverse toning in a warm, even, blue-gray patina. The reverse is overall lighter, dusky tannish-silver peripheral toning yielding to near brilliance in the center. A cameo finish is readily evident at all angles, and smooth, Gem quality surfaces are also easy to appreciate. A superior representative of a proof type that is not always offered with the full striking detail and well mirrored fields evident here.
