1838 Modified Matron Head Cent. N-10. Rarity-1. MS-64 BN (NGC). Highly lustrous deep brown surfaces with traces of mint red in some of the protected areas. Just a few tiny nicks and a couple splashes of maroon and dark olive patina on the reverse. Gem quality otherwise and an overall very impressive example of the date or variety. Later die state with flowlined surfaces and a crack with swelling at AM of AMERICA. Provenance: From the John McBride Collection. PCGS# 1741. NGC ID: 225V.
