Blatantly unusual for a gold coin, album toning creates some semblance of concentric rings around both sides -- thoroughly unexpected and completely unusual for such a well circulated piece. This is certainly something you don't see very often. The appearance significantly mimics that of an album-toned copper coin, suggesting strong copper alloy at the surface of this piece. Intriguing, to say the least!
